The first stop was Montreuil-aux-Lions, which was the village the 5th and 6th Marines arrived at by the end of May/June 1st. The inhabitants fled from the area, but made sure wine and food were left for the Americans (Not the Germans). This is where Axel had his last proper meal.
The City Hall was used as the first Head Quarter in the area, and the small woods on both sides of the road, right outside the village, were used as retreat area for the soldiers, while they awaited orders to move to the front line.
