This was our second stop. Axel never came to this village, which is about a mile south of the main road between Paris, Chateau Thierry and Rheims. The church was used as a hospital for American soldiers and German prisoners. It was started by President Theodore Roosevelts son-in-law Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Derby.
