The first Cemetery at Bois de Belleau in 1920-21. It is slightly to the left of the present cemetery and Axel was buried there in gr. 157, sect. D, plot 4 until he was moved to Virginia in 1921. The soldiers at the small cemeteries around Chateau-Thierry where moved to the present cemetery in 1923.
