| War Documents |
I now know a bit more about Johannes Frederiksen, as I have received some war documents from Australia, and will try to find more information about the 26th Battalion, and what they did during World War 1. I will also have to go through the documents, so I can make sort of a diary for him.
One of the pictures of him is stamped by a photographer in Queensland, Australia, and according to one of my books, the 26th Queensland & Tasmanian Battalion was in the 2nd Australian Division, 7th Brigade. They were taking part in the battle of the Somme, but as it ended shortly after Johannes joined, I can't believe he was there.
In August 1918, the 2nd Australian Division took part in the Battle of Amiens, which to the Germans was "....the greatest defeat which the German Army had suffered since the beginning of the war....".
